Andreas Huonker wuchs als eines von neun Kindern eines Leidringer Bauern auf. Mit 17 Jahren wanderte er 1869 in die USA aus. Am 11. September 1896 steckte er am Klondike River einen Claim ab und suchte nach Gold. Er wurde fündig und verkaufte seinen Claim bevor ab 1897 die Funde bekannt wurden und der "Goldrausch am Klondike" ausbrach. Zeitlebens vergaß der "Gold Huoncker" den Heimatort Leidringen und seine Angehörigen nicht. Unter anderem schickte er aus den USA diesen Goldnugget. Er kam in einer Aufbewahrungskapsel in Eiform mit Drehgewinde zum Aufschrauben.
