"Losch, Franz Xaver or Joseph (Germ.). Medaillist, born in 1770 at Amberg, died in 1826; pupil of J. G. Whitska. He resided at Munich and, says Bolzenthal, "was much employed by the Bavarian Court, and one of the first who in Germany exercised the art in fine taste and after the example of the French in the old style. His numerous productions prove this; they chiefly refer to events in the reign of Kind Maximilian Joseph." He was appointed Chief-engraver at the Mint of Munich in 1808. In 1810 he visited Paris."
