Rákosi coat of arms

The new state emblem adopted by the Constitution of the Hungarian People's Republic (Act XX of 1949), which replaced the Kossuth emblem, is colloquially known as the Rákosi emblem. From a heraldic point of view, it is not considered a coat of arms (anti-heraldic), as it does not include a shield.

This coat of arms was in use from 20 August 1949 and was repealed on 23 May 1957 (Article 3 of Act II of 1957) and replaced by the coat of arms in use until the change of regime ("Kádár coat of arms").
