Richard Büttner (1858-1927)

"Oskar Alexander Richard Büttner (28 September 1858 – 1927) was a German botanist and mineralogist involved in the exploration of the Congo.

Büttner was a member of the German Congo Expedition, and visited the Congo between 1884 and 1886. In 1890 he wrote Reisen im Kongolande about his travels. In 1890–91 he was in charge of a research station in Togo. Büttner was also interested in entomology.

Büttner is commemorated in the scientific name of a species of African lizard, Trachylepis buettneri.

The standard author abbreviation Büttner is used to indicate this person as the author when citing a botanical name." - (en.wikipedia.org 11.08.2021)
