Charles Leviez (1708-1778)

"French dancer and dancing master, resident in London for about 30 years, befoer returning to Paris. Later became a dealer in prints and drawings, and small-scale publisher; sold stock at auction in March 1761; by 1766 had established himself in Paris as a printseller. Published a large compilation of Pillement in 1767. Auction sale of all his plates, Paris 29/30 July 1773.
He is mentioned in the Reminiscences of Henry Angelo, 1904 ed., I pp.53-5 as a French dancing master who had an excellent collection of prints, 'Wille, Le Bas and other celebrated engravers were his intimates and Vernet frequently passed the evening at his house'.
