Das Aquarell gibt einen in Gelbtönen gefassten Greifen nach rechts wieder und Seepferd in Blautönen nach links wieder. Das Seepferd findet sich im Nachlass von Presuhn auch als separates Bilder (Vgl. WG-B-101,3). Beide Darstellungen wurden nach einer pompejanischen Wandmalerei vermutlich während der Grabungskampagnen 1878-1881 aufgenommen. Wie die Seepferdchen waren auch die Greifen beliebte Dekorationselemente im 4. Stil der pompejanischen Wandmalerei. Emil Presuhn hat das Aquarell nicht in seinen Publikationen veröffentlicht.
