Das Gemälde (Öl auf Leinwand) zeigt "Ziegelputzer" in Bautzen im Rahmen des Wideraufbaus der Stadt im Jahre 1946. Im Vordergrund reinigen zwei Frauen an einem Holzbock Ziegel mit dem Ziegelhammer. Die dem Betrachter des Bildes zugewandte Frau trägt ein leuchtend rotes Kopftuch. Rechts neben dem Bock steht ein Stapel geputzter Ziegel. Im Hintergrund erscheint eine Ruine und davor ein Haufen Ziegel. Im rechten hinteren Bildbereich arbeitet ein Mann mit der Spitzhacke. Signiert und datiert i. d. r. o. E: "GBenzig 50".
