The ornament is made of a massive round rod, spirally coiled with three curls. Its ends are decorated with soldered friezes in the form of three figurines of fantastic animals - eagle-headed, wolf-headed and lion-headed griffins, made in semicircular relief, decorated with inserts of opaque blue glass.
The Nohaichynskyi mound belongs to the time when the Northern Black Sea region was invaded from the east by a strong and numerous horde of nomads, which is associated with the Sarmatian tribe of Alans. A characteristic feature of their art was their love to the turquoise-gold color scheme in jewelry, in which the hryvna was made.
As a generally impressive and expensive product, the hryvna is still somewhat crudely made, and it gives the impression of an object hastily made for a funeral. This opinion is supported by another significant detail – the small diameter of the hryvna, which prevents the use of jewelry by constantly putting it on and taking it off over the head.
