In der Regierungszeit des Gegenbischofs Gero von Schermbke (1160-1177) setzte sich die Blütezeit der Brakteaten in Halberstadt fort. Der heilige Stephanus ist in verschiedensten Darstellungsweisen das zentrale Motiv der Münzen. Mannigfaltige geringe Abweichungen deuten auf eine Vielzahl von Stempeln bei gleichen Motiven hin. Dieser Brakteat zeigt den heiligen Stephanus stehend. In seinen ausgebreiteten Armen hält er eine Stola (Manipel) und ein Buch. (C. Heinevetter)
