This neck ornament consists of 40 porcelain-like sea urchin spines of approximately equal length, each pierced at the spherical end and drawn in a tight circular uniform string on a twisted coconut fiber cord. An effort is made here to use sea urchin spines of equal length. One speaks of a rich jewelry of this kind already starting from 20 sea urchin spines. This jewelry comes from Hatohobei (also called Tobi), one of the Southwest Islands of Palau, located about 600 km away from the main island.
