Die Kontur des Ornaments entspricht in der Botanik der eines herzförmigen Blatts. Als Schmuckelement findet man ähnliche Motive - Palmetten - bei Gebäuden bereits in der Antike als Stirnziegel, d.h. als oberer Punkt eines Giebels. Bei dem vorliegenden Dekor wurde in eine einfache äußere Grundform eine verspielte Fülle vegetabiler Elemente eingebracht. Die Technik der geflammten Glasur wurde beim Fond wie auch bei der Farbfassung innerhalb des Ornamentmotivs angewendet. Bei geflammten Glasuren wurden unterschiedliche Glasurmassen vor dem Glasurbrand nass in nass auf die Scherben (auch Biskuit genannt) aufgebracht.
