A short lance with a red, round wooden shaft and a put on pike from metal. Around the shaft, a bunting with Chinese characters is attached. The lettering runs along the shaft. In the middle, there are big characters with a red signet imprint.
The flag is a command bunting that originates in the late 19th century. Such buntings were used in the Chinese warfare for transmitting commands. The lettering at the shaft reads "Commander of the central infantry 481, captain Wu, rank 4[a], soon to be promoted, on old position for now."
The flag is stuck to the shaft the wrong way round. The spearhead should actually be pointing in the same direction as the "roof" of the big character in the middle. Hence, it is possible that the bunting was stuck on subsequently. If the lance is a Chinese original or an imitation/prop is not ascertained so far.
