Description

Clay jar from Ancient Peru, probably Chimú culture, Late Intermediate, ca. 800 - 1200 AD.
The stirrup spout vessel has a hexagram-like (mace-head-like) belly and a hollow handle, which is formed like a stirrup and serves at the same time as spout. The belly is alternating in three colours with a light slip as well as a red and black painting. On the handle are nubs.

The Museum of the City of Ulm bought the jar together with four other Peruvian vessels from art dealer Dr. Franz Xaver Weizinger.
