Ende April bis Anfang Mai wurde Torf für das kommende Jahr gewonnen. Mit einem dünnen Stahlspaten stach man Torfstücke ab, die man zum Trocknen aufschichtete und im August oder September mit Pferdefuhrwerken einholte.
