Die feste, dunkelbraune Braunkohle setzt sich zusammen aus streifigen Blattscheiden und Nadelstreu der Schirmtanne (Sciadoptys tertiaria). Dazwischen gelagert sind noch einzelne Blätter- und Lignit-Reste.
