Der Helm besteht aus einer halbierten Kalebasse (Flaschenkürbis), die mit Antilopengehörn und Kaurimuschel-Schnüren verziert ist. Der Kopfschmuck wurde von Ausgewählten Konkombwa (Nord-Togo) u. a. bei Tänzen getragen. Das Objekt hat Hans Schomburgk (1880-1967) während einer seiner Expeditionen in die damalige deutsche Kolonie Togo 1913/14 von einem Konkombwa erworben. Es handelt sich hierbei um ein kulturell sensibles Objekt, dessen Kaufumstände als Problematisch einzuschätzen sind.
