Das Kanapee steht den Entwürfen Johann Michael Hoppenhaupts nahe und könnte ursprünglich für die Ausstattungen unter König Friedrich II. im Berliner Schloss angefertigt worden sein. Die auffällige Bekrönung der Rückenlehne ist eine Ergänzung der Zeit um 1860, als es für das Orangerieschloss im Park Sanssouci modifiziert wurde und als Vorbild für zwei Repliken für das Malachitzimmer diente. Es befindet sich seither dort.
