Der Sperlingskauz ist die kleinste in Mitteleuropa heimische Eule. Sein Verbreitungsschwerpunkt liegt im Bereich des paläarktischen Nadelwaldgürtels. In Mitteleuropa war er lange Zeit sehr selten und seine Vorkommen waren auf Bergwälder beschränkt. In den letzten Jahren konnte die Art sich jedoch merklich ausbreiten und kommt heute z.B. auch im Pfälzerwald regelmäßig vor. Unser Präparat zeigt ein weibliches Tier. Gefunden von Herrn Ohmlohr.
