Man charakterisierte das neue Instrument als den kleinen Bruder des Saxophons. Das Saxie ist leichter zu spielen. Man behielt die Saxophonform bei und brachte nur eine fis- und eine Überblasklappe an. 6 Grifflöcher für Grundtonleiter. 2 Klappen für fis- und Überblasklappe. Blasbar bis c3.
