In Forst Zinna bei Jüterbog war ein Baubataillon der Gruppe der Sowjetischen Streitkräfte in Deutschland stationiert. Der Turm entspricht den standardisierten Abmessungen für militärische Beobachtungs- bzw. Wachtürme, die in einer Richtlinie der sowjetischen Armee festgelegt worden waren. Er wurde im Februar 2019 von seinem ursprünglichen Standort demontiert und ins Museum Berlin-Karlshorst gebracht. Die musealen Sicherstellung mit Demontage und anschließenden Transport wurde durch das Team der Heimatgalerie organisiert (https://www.heimatgalerie.de/). Der Turm fand in der Ausstellung „Alltag. Politik. Kampfauftrag. – sowjetische Truppen in Deutschland 1945-1994“ Verwendung.
