Description

In rundem Bildausschnitt rechts Blick in eine vom Mond beschienene Landschaft, links hohe Mauer mit angeschnittener hoher Vase, davor sitzend Albert und Lotte, die dem rechts stehenden Werther ihre linke Hand zum Abschied reicht. Darstellung in weichen Halbtönen.

Inscription

Bezeichnet: Unter der Darstellung links "J. Northcote. pinxit."; mittig "J. Harris excudit."; rechts "C. Knight, Sculpsit."; darunter mittig "ALBERT, CHARLOTTE AND WERTER. / Charlotte I said holding out my hand to her, and my eyes full of tears, / we shall again see one another here and hereafter.
