Description

Gneise sind mittel- bis grobkörnige, feldspatreiche Gesteine, die durch die Regionalmetamorphose von Sedimenten (Paragneise) oder Magmatiten (Orthogneise) oberhalb von 600°C entstehen können.
Bei diesem Objekt handelt es sich um einen Paragneis, der aus einenm Pelit hervorgegangen ist. Hauptbestandteile sind Granat, Sillimanit und Cordierit. Ebenso sind die für Gneis typischen Minerale Quarz und Feldspat vertreten, sowie Biotit und Almandin-Pyrop.
Das Objekt stammt aus Deutschland; vom Silberberg bei Bodenmais im Bayrischen Wald.
