Historiendarstellung. Darstellung eines Zugunglückes. Am 8. Mai 1842 brach bei Merdon die Achse einer Lokomotive eines Personenzuges. Dargestellt ist das Feuer, das in den nachfolgenden Wagons ausbrach. Zahlreiche Personen versuchen durch die Fenster und die Dächer der Abteile zu entkommen.
