Description

Der Unbekannte, der sich später als der Teufel selbst erweisen wird und den – übrigens in Goethes Faust erscheinenden – Namen Voland führt, beginnt eine Erzählung über Pontius Pilatus, dem der Gefangene Jeschua Ha-Nozri (Jesus von Nazareth) vorgeführt wird. Es kommt nach einem Gespräch - nicht zuletzt aus machtpolitischen Erwägungen des Statthalters von Judäa heraus – zur Verurteilung Jeschuas.
