Wooden seat with carvings

Description

The wooden seat was made for Georg Ipscher in Cameroon. It is decorated with carvings on both sides. One side: lettering STABSARZT Dr. IPSCHER [SURGEON MAJOR DR. IPSCHER]; other side: depiction of an elephant holding a fruit with its trunk; two snakes, one with a fish and one with a bird as prey; a crocodile with a round object in front of its snout. In the upper centre there is a half-relief of a sphere with a geometric cross engraving.
