Mit dem Vorgänger D80 produzierte Deutz Mitte der 1960er Jahre den stärksten luftgekühlten Schlepper seiner Zeit. Ausgestattet mit fahrunabhängiger Zapfwellenhydraulik war dieser Schlepper fast 30 Jahre auf einem landw. Betrieb bei Moosburg/Bay. für schwere Zugarbeiten eingesetzt.
