Description

Zur ländlichen Selbstversorgung mit Nahrungsmitteln gehörten Milchprodukte. Für die Butterherstellung füllte man die Milch in ein Milch- oder Rahmblech oder in eine Abrahmschüssel. Dann wurde der Rahm abgeschöpft und im Butterglas oder -fass gerührt. Eine Alternative stellt dieser Butterquirl dar, hergestellt aus einem ausgedienten Weihnachtsbaum.
Der Rahm von 25 Liter Milch ergab knapp ein Kilogramm Butter.
