Er stand ganz allgemein für einen ganzen Gegenstand, eine Erbschaft (res ex asse), einen Acker oder ein einheitliches Besitztum. Er konnte aber trotzdem auch bei Bedarf oder Notwendigkeit in Zwölfteln (in Unzen) geteilt oder auch als „mehrfaches“ Ganzes vorliegen
