Diese Brosche wurde aus Menschenhaar gefertigt, es handelt sich um eine sogennante Haarflechterei.
Schmuckstücke aus Haaren kamen vor allem während der Zeit des Biedermeiers groß in Mode, ihre Blütezeit lag im 19. Jahrhundert. Haararbeiten aller Art passten zum intensiv betriebenen Freundschafts- und Erinnerungskult dieser Zeit.
