Description

Die Büste ist die verkleinerte Kopie eines Originals in den Kapitolinischen Museen und wurde im 19. Jh. angefertigt.

Im 18. Jh. galt der Kopf noch als ein Porträt des Antinous, dem Geliebten Kaiser Hadrians. Allerdings handelt es sich um ein Idealbildnis, dass den Gott Hermes darstellen soll, wie bereits Winckelmann erkannte.
