Das Blatt stammt aus dem vom Künstler angelegten Konvolut "Großformate, Studien nach 1976". Darin versammelt sind 39 großformatige, farbige Arbeiten, die zwischen 1978 und 1987 entstanden. Neben Porträts enthält das Konvolut vor allem Themenbilder.
