- 1882 zunächst Direktor des Königlichen Münzkabinetts, dann auch der Porzellansammlung und des Historischen Museums (Rüstkammer) in Dresden
- Herausgeber der Zeitschriften "Aus Dresdner Sammlungen" und "Blätter für Münzfreunde"
