Am 12. Juni 1862 begann Friedrich Robert Götz sein Arbeitsleben als Sechzehnjähriger in der Weberei des Johann Friedrich Götz in Reichenbach, vermutlich seines Vaters. Die letzte Eintragung im Arbeitsbuch stammt aus dem Jahr 1865, als er nach einem Aufenthalt in Ronneburg wieder in Reichenbach in Arbeit ist.
