Dargestellt ist ein sitzender Mann in einer weiten, dunklen Robe. Er hat die Hände auf dem vor ihm stehenden Tisch und ein Buch vor sich aufgeschlagen. Mit dem rechten Zeigefinger markiert er eine Stelle und blickt nachdenklich zum Betrachter auf. Er hat eine Kappe auf dem Kopf, sodass nur die Haare an den Seiten sichtbar sind. Das Porträt ist von einem verzierten Viereck eingerahmt. Darunter ist der Name zu lesen.
