"Die Glühlampe war seit 1879 (Edison Versuch) ein Grund dafür, dass sich immer mehr Glasbläser mit dem Einschmelzen von Platindrähten beschäftigten und im Auspumpen von Lampen gewannen. Fast vergessene Vorläufererfindungen der Edison-Lampe stammten von Davy (um 1800), De Moleyn (1841) und Heinrich Göbel (um 1850)."
