Description

Der Frauenkopf mit dem von einem Band mehrfach umwundenen Haar ahmt den Kopf einer Statue aus dem 4. Jahrhundert v. Chr. nach. Diese wurde in der römischen Kaiserzeit häufig kopiert. Früher hielt man diese Statue für ein Bildnis der Dichterin Sappho. Wahrscheinlich handelt es sich aber um eine Darstellung der Liebesgöttin Aphrodite.
