Description

Tempelbild mit farbiger Darstellung aus der PANJI-Legende (Malat-Zyklus)
Identifikation von Adrian Vickers, 16.4.08:
a Panji Macangkrama scene from the Malat, an example of which is described in my book. This is where Panji wanders in the mountains and sees a deer (in a connected episode his brother and others go hunting). Panji writes love letters which he casts into a steam (the stream is not shown). By the usual coincidence, Prabu Melayu and his wives are also wandering in the mountains, and amongst his entourage is Rangkesari (who is seen by everyone as Melayu´s wife, but is really his sister. She finds Panji´s letter, and then wanders off and has an amorous encounter with Panji (top left).
