Description

Schlittenkopf in Form einer auf einen Holzsockel montierten Büste. Dargestellt ist ein Mann mit schwarzen Haaren und Schnurrbart, der einen Turban und einen pelzverbrämten Mantel trägt. Die osmanisch anmutende Kleidung lässt auf eine stereotype "Türken"-Darstellung schließen. Gekauft von Oskar Spiegelhalder am 20.11.1912 in Freiburg im Breisgau.
Figurale Schlittenköpfe sind vor allem aus dem Alpenraum bekannt. Sie waren als Bekrönung an der Zusammenführung der Kufen angebracht. Beliebte Motive waren Tierköpfe, Fabelwesen und groteske Fratzen. "Türken" und "Mohren" fügen sich somit als exotische Gestalten in eine Reihe "lächerlicher" Figuren ein.
