Description

A type of shield made of woven plant fibres was used to keep off the rain while working in the fields.
Entry in the main historical catalogue: "Putso" shield of the Lhota Naga. The native name of the shield is "otsong". The oval, darkly browned leaf shield is cut straight at the lower end, which is 19 cm wide, and extends to a width of 47 cm. The length is 105 cm. The strong central ribs protrude out over the upper edge; 10 finer ribs run parallel to the oval edge; 14 other horizontal ones (16 on the front) hold the leaves in place.
