Description

Bildnis der Hilma Kraus (geb. 11.1.1845 - gest. 1901 in Wesselburen) in einem achteckigen Etui. Auf dem Deckel -eine Schnitzerei vortäuschend- ein Schachspielendes Paar.
Unter dem Bild ein Werbezettel der amerikanischen Firma "Littlefield, Parsons & Co., Manufactors of Daguerreotype Cases". Diese "Union Cases. L., P. & Co., are the sole Proprietors and only legal Manufactures of UNION CASES, with the Embracing Riveted Hinge. Patented October 14, 1856, and April 21, 1857." - unter hohem Druck aus einer Schellack-Holzmehl-Mischung und der Beimengung eines tierischen Harzes gepreßt - wurden 1856 patentiert und fanden vorzugsweise in den USA Verwendung, wurden aber auch nach Europa exportiert.
