Erworben wurde das Bild als ein Werk von Caspar David Friedrich, auf den jedoch einzig das Motiv zurückverweist. Einige Eigentümlichkeiten der Malweise erinnern an Blechen. Doch die auffallend schwere Brauntonigkeit und die Angabe der Zweige durch sehr pastose, kaum verdünnt auf den stumpfen Grundaufstrich aufgetragene Farbe schließen eine Entstehung in der ersten Jahrhunderthälfte aus. | Claude Keisch
