Der Trilobit (Dreilapper) Calymene blumenbachi BROGNIART ist ein typisches Faunenelement des Flachwasser- und Riffbereichs im Silur.

Calymene bewohnte Lebensräume in der Nähe von Riffen, teilweise durchwühlte sie den Meeresboden. Da ihr Panzer gut mit Kalk (Calcit) mineralisiert ist, ist sie häufig und gut überliefert. Trilobiten stellen aufgrund ihrer hohen Artenvielfalt eine der wichtigsten Leitfossiliengruppen des Erdaltertums dar.

Alter: ca. 430 Mio. Jahre, Wenlockium, Silur
Fundort: vermutl. Djupvik/ Gotland
