Dies ist eine Muschel Platyceramus cycloides (WEGNER), ein wichtiges Leitfossil.

Die Tiere waren Bewohner des Tiefwasserbereichs und lebten auf schlammigen Tiefseeboden. Die abgeflachte Form ist vermutlich als Schutz gegen Einsinken zu deiten (Schneeschustrategie).

Alter: ca. 84 Mio. Jahre, ob. Santonium, Oberkreide
Fundort: Schleuse Recklinghausen/Westfalen
