Spangenberg, August Gottlieb (1704-1792), ab 1744 Bischof, ab 1760 Oberhaupt der Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine.

Hüftstück nach links in Gemälderahmen an Wand, darunter Schrifttafel.

Vorlage: Brustbild, 1786, Brüder-Unität Herrnhut, ebd. auch eine Replik (Berckenhagen Nr. 1290)

Der Kupferstich Spangenbergs entstand, wohl auf die Vermittlung Graffs hin, im Auftrag der Herrnhuter. "Es ist ein schöner Kopf, so schön als ich ihn erwartet habe", lobte Müller nach dem Erhalt des Gemäldes (Brief J. G. Müllers an Graff, 4.3.1787, Freies Deutsches Hochstift, Frankfurter Goethe-Museum, Sign. Hs. 3732).
