Description

Drusen sind kristallgefüllte offene Hohlräume in Gesteinen, meist in Vulkaniten. Amethyst ist die violette Varietät von Quarz (SiO2). Seine Färbung wird durch den Einbau von oxidierten Eisen-Atomen verursacht, die bei radioaktiver Bestrahlung ionisiert werden und dabei Defekte im Kristallgitter hervorrufen.

Kalkspat bzw. Calcit (Ca[CO3]) fällt aus Calcium-reichen Lösungen aus und ist wie hier, häufig in Drusenfüllugen.
