Description

Chalkopyrit (= Kupferkies; CuFeS2) und Bornit (= Buntkupferkies; Cu5FeS4) sind Kupfersulfide und wichtige Erzminerale. Beide laufen an der Luft bunt an und lassen dann den ursprünglich goldgelben Farbton nicht mehr erkennen.

Dieses Stück stammt aus der Kupfererzmine Butte in Montana. Die Erzlager sind mit einem granitischen Pluton verbunden, der während der Kreidezeit intrudierte.
