Description

Rhodochrosit (= Manganspat, Himbeerspat; MnCO3) ist mit Calcit isotyp und zeigt daher meist ebenfalls typische Skalenoeder-Kristalle. Sein Name nimmt Bezug auf die typische Farbe (griechisch rodon = Rose, chros = Hautfarbe).

Auf dieser Stufe füllt das Mineral Hohlräume in zelligem Limonit, der im Verwitterungshut vieler schon im Mittelalter abgebauter Eisenerz-Lagerstätten im Siegerland häufig war.

Fundort: grube Wolf, Herdorf, Siegerland
