Dieser Kopffüßer Scaphites roemeri d`Orbigny ist ein typischer Ammonit der Kreide. Zu dieser Zeit bestand in der Tiergruppe eine Tendenz zur Entrollung, woraus sich diverse ammoniten-unübliche Formen wie dieser "Kahn" ergaben.

Die aktiven, aber schlechten Schwimmer lebten in den landfernen Teilen der Schelfmeere in ca. 50-200 m Tiefe und führten kaum senkrechte Wanderungen aus.

Fundort: Stemweder Berg, Haldem, Kr. Minden/Nordrhein-Westfalen
