One of the fundamental covenants that the Jewish people received from God on the Mount Sinai is the covenant to keep the Saturday. Since ancient times, in the Jewish tradition, there has been a carefully developed ritual of celebrating Saturday, which has become an important part of the way of life of the Jews, their material life. The importance of Saturday is also emphasized by a special attitude to the attributes of this holiday. The tradition of having a special candlestick, wine glass and bsamim has been cultivated in families for centuries. These attributes were often made of precious metal, decorated with filigree, engraving, and engraved landscapes. Incense boxes «bsamim» (from Hebrew «incense») are distinguished by a variety of forms and compositional solutions. Bsamim in the form of a vase is a vivid example of the interpenetration of Jewish and Ukrainian folk arts. A vase is placed on a stepped round base, a hop shoot with elegantly bent leaves, gilded cones, and a sculptural image of a bird emerges in the vase. A flower crowns the shoot, which serves as a container for spices.
