Description

The ring is lamellar with a wide center. Its ends are tied with a double knot. The shield has figured edges. It is decorated with rows of dot-indentations applied with a square-tipped tool and wavy ornament with concentric circles. Decorations form vertical-linear compositions.
Such rings are considered typically Scandinavian. However, in general, the origin of the jewelry is quite international. They belonged to a woman, who, according to the Rus custom described by the Arab traveler Ibn-Fadlan, was buried together with the warrior and is considered his slave. A tribute to the fashion that came from the Danube were earrings of the so-called Moravian type, Arab dirhams were used as necklace pendants, carnelian beads may have been made in India. A Byzantine bronze key was also found in the burial, which could be used as an amulet-pendant
